Claudia Mangiamele B.Sc.(1977), Dip. Ed.(1979)
Claudia trained from her teenage years with Dorotea Mangiamele - the Creator of creative dance at and founder of Mangala Studios.
Trained by her mother in yoga and creative dance for over twenty years, she now teaches Creative dance to adults and children, including mothers and babies. She also specialises in creative creative yoga- a unique Mangala studios practice which combines elements of yoga and creativity.
Between1980-86, Claudia taught pre-school classes at Kalker Montessori Kindergarten. In 1982 she commenced teaching Adult yoga and Creative dance at Mangala studios and in 1986 she became Co- Principal of Mangala Studios. Claudia currently teaches the baby and toddler classes (with parents), 4yr old, 8-9 yr old and 10-13 yr old classes at the school.
She also takes 3 and 4 year old groups for dance at Shelford early Learning Centre.
Claudia is the Director of the Diploma Course in Creative Dance teaching offered at the school.
Suzanne Hockey
Sue is also a daughter of the schools founder, Dorotea Mangiamele and has been practising Creative dance since its inception. While continuing with her dancing, she spent ten years as a child-care worker and eventually Crèche Directress. Since 1990 she has brought her extensive experience with children to full time creative dance teaching. Sue is now Co-0rdinator of Children’s dancing at the school. Sue teaches 2, 3, 4, 5-6 and 7-8 yr old classes at the school.
Peter Hockey B.A., member IYTA
Peter is co-principal of Mangala studios. After training under Dorotea Mangiamele direction in yoga and Creative dance since 1975, Peter began teaching yoga in 1978. Yoga studies remain a major passion in his life. In 1980, he began teaching adult and child creative dance. He has been teaching constantly since then in studio situations.
He has lectured extensively, including at Swinburne University (Integrative Medicine Course) VUT (Childcare studies) Australian Yoga Teachers Network (Philosophy of Yoga) and Lady Gowrie Child Centre ( Children’s yoga and dance.) He has presented the work of the school at several conferences such as Orff Schulewerke and Daci .(Sydney)
Peter has been inspired by the teachings of TKV Desikachar and has incorporated many aspects of his approach into his creative approach to classical yoga. Peter co-founded the Diploma of Creative Dance Teaching Course and continues his love of Vedanta philosophy with regular workshops incorporating the deeper aspects of yoga.
